USDA appoints new Under Secretary for Food Safety
Elisabeth Hagen served as CMO for Food Safety and Inspection Service
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has appointed Dr. Elisabeth Hagen, the former chief medical officer for the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service, as the new under secretary for food safety.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said Hagen's qualifications made her the perfect candidate for appointment. "There is no higher priority at USDA than ensuring that Americans have access to a safe and healthy food supply," said Vilsack. "Dr. Hagen's background as chief medical officer and senior executive within USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service will enable her to successfully lead the effort to develop and execute the agency's scientific and public health agenda."
