FastFacts: EU poultry shares

Member states of the European Union have been estimated to produce 8.7 million metric tons of broiler meat on an RTC basis and almost 1.82 million metric tons of turkey meat in 2010. Eurostat data for the EU-27 members in 2009 showed their total poultry production in carcass weight terms as 11.65 million metric tons, with the largest producers being France (1.67 million metric tons), the UK (1.46 million metric tons), Spain (1.32 million metric tons) and Germany (1.28 million metric tons).
