Butterball LLC has joined with Weekly Reader to develop "Celebrate Agriculture," a set of classroom materials designed to educate children about the importance of responsible agriculture.
The program will provide materials to more than 200,000 teachers with a reach of 6 million students. "Agriculture plays an integral part in American culture," said Keith Shoemaker, CEO of Butterball. "Butterball recognizes the impact safe farming has on the food industry, and most importantly on health, which is why we are proud to join with Weekly Reader to help educate students on these issues." The program is designed for children in grades three through six, and will include math, nutrition and science activities.
