USDA names new director of energy office

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has named Dr. Harry Baumes as the new director of the Office of Energy Policy and New Uses. Baumes, who has served as the Office's assistant director since April 2006, will provide policy advice for the Office of the Secretary and other officials on energy and bioproduct issues.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has named Dr. Harry Baumes as the new director of the Office of Energy Policy and New Uses.

Baumes, who has served as the Office's assistant director since April 2006, will provide policy advice for the Office of the Secretary and other officials on energy and bioproduct issues. Among other things, he will analyze and evaluate existing proposed energy policies, strategies and regulations.

Baumes holds a Ph.D. in agricultural economics from Purdue University.
