The Feed Ingredients and Additives Asia/Pacific (FIAAP) 2008 conferenceIngredients for Successas well as specific papers looking at the use of ingredients and additives within the Aquafeed Horizons Conference and Petfood Forum Asia Conference (see sidebar) will round out the Victam Asia event. The Thai Feed Conference, organised by the Thai Feed Mill Association in conjunction with the Thai Department of Livestock, Ministry of Agriculture, will also be held during Victam Asia, with its focus on, "The importance of ingredients and additives within the correct formulation and production of animal feeds."

Expanded trade show

Victam reports that this year's event will feature a more robust trade show, with more exhibits and many featuring larger stands. Plus, in 2008 there will be an additional trade show affiliated with the FIAAP 2008. This exhibition is devoted to ingredients and additives used within the formulation and processing of feeds for animals, pets, fish, and shrimp. Visitors can expect to see a large concentration of equipment, technology, systems, ingredients and additives used within the formulation and production of feeds.

FIAAP 2008 is a new addition to Victam Asia 2008 and will bring together companies supplying specialist products with nutritionists, feed formulators, veterinarians and senior industry executives from feed compounders, integrators, cooperatives, large farms, hatcheries and fish farms, organizers say.

The educational portion of FIAPP will focus on the many challenges facing the feed additives market in the Asia Pacific region, including regulations by the European Union, diseases threats, limited feed additive awareness and low-value products. An overview of the animal feed additives market in Southeast Asia, in terms of unit value and volume, will be one of the highlights and will take place 5th March 5th on the first day of the Victam Asia and FIAAP trade shows. Sri Ganesh, consulting analyst with Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific, will discuss pricing trends and the factors involved in influencing the prices of feed additives

Amino acids, particularly methionine, lysine and tryptophan; feed acidifiers, and feed enzymes (non-starch polysaccharides and phytase) will be primary areas of focus due to their current levels of significance in the region. The presentation will also cover feed antibiotics and direct-fed microbial products.

Technical presentations on these and feed preservatives will be the focus of the remainder of the conference. The conference will also include a review of feed protein sources and commodity markets.
