Mettler Toledo has acquired the Smiths Detection's product inspection division and will adopt the company's Eagle brand of food x-ray inspection systems.
The Eagle business will continue to operate as a separate entity using existing sales and service channels, in addition to being part of Mettler Toledo’s product inspection division. With this acquisition, Mettler Toledo hopes to increase its commitment to the food x-ray business, which will drive additional strategic investments in technology and application development. "Now with Eagle as part of our portfolio, we can provide an even wider range of product inspection solutions, such as fat analysis tools, to product manufacturers around the world for a variety of applications,” said Kristian Laskey, head of Mettler Toledo's X-ray business.
