Hong Kong halts South Africa poultry imports

The Hong Kong Center for Food Safety has suspended imports of poultry, game birds and their products from South Africa "with immediate effect until further notice." The center said the decision had been made following confirmation of outbreaks of the highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N2 in ostrich farms in the Western Cape.

"We are seeking further information from the relevant authority of South Africa," said the center. "We are closely monitoring the situation."
