A six-member delegation from India led by Ajit Kumar, joint secretary in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and vice chairman of the National Meat and Poultry Processing Board, has made plans to visit the Dutch Product Boards for Livestock, Meat and Eggs to study the country's poultry and meat processing procedures. The NMPPB, according to India officials, has been set up to cater to the expanding needs of the Indian meat and poultry sector and to ensure that the country becomes a global leader in production, consumption and export of safe, hygienic and quality meat products.

The board, in conjunction with Netherlands industry experts, is currently helping India's poultry and meat processing sector establish an infrastructure for backward and forward linkages for traceability.
