Butterball facilities reach lost-time injury milestones

Butterball LLC's Ozark, Ark., facility celebrated 2 million worker hours without a lost-time injury, while the company's Carthage, Mo., facility reached 3 million hours. The achievements represent more than three years of safety performance by the facilities' associates and demonstrate the success of the company’s employee safety program.

The achievements represent more than three years of safety performance by the facilities' associates and demonstrate the success of the company’s employee safety program. “As an industry leader in worker safety, Butterball enforces strict safety guidelines for all employees,” said Brian Rodgers, corporate director of safety and risk management. “Achieving [these milestones] demonstrates our commitment to eliminating unsafe conditions and worker injuries throughout the company, and it underscores our partnership and collaboration with associates.” 

The Ozark facility has maintained the nation’s highest safety certification, OSHA VPP Star status, for six consecutive years. Currently, Butterball is one of only two turkey producers in the U.S. to achieve VPP Star status. Additionally, the facility received the Award of Honor for safety excellence from the American Meat Institute. Most recently, the Carthage facility received the Award of Merit for safety excellence from the AMI and Award of Honor from the National Joint Poultry Safety and Health Council.
