China relaxes restrictions on Japan food imports

China recently adopted official measures to lift the import restrictions on Japanese food, as long as products come with certificates of origin. Work on a unified certificate format is still in progress and food imports in 10 counties of Japan are still currently banned.

China recently adopted official measures to lift the import restrictions on Japanese food, as long as products come with certificates of origin.

Work on a unified certificate format is still in progress and food imports in 10 counties of Japan are still currently banned. 

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan showed that exports of agricultural and marine products to China amounted to 46.5 billion yen (about 3.75 billion yuan) in 2009, of which processed food and aquatic products accounted for about 70%.
