Cargill to expand production with new feed mill

New mill will produce 120,000 tons of feed annually
Cargill has made plans to begin production at a new, high-capacity feed mill on May 1. The new facility, which has been under construction since September 2010, will replace Cargill's feed mill that was destroyed in a fire on Feb. 12, 2010.

Current consumption of U.S. corn and soybeans is a great deal higher than industry analysts expected, according to Tim Brusnahan, vice president of Brock and Associates, speaking at the recent WATT Online Animal Forum: Feeding the Globe. The production of ethanol, together with several other factors, appears to be at the heart of current fluctuations in the feed ingredients market and as a result, in the livestock markets as well.

Obama administration answers poultry industry's call for essential inspection in event of government shutdown
Federal poultry, egg, meat, grain and other commodity inspections, including those related to import and export activities, will continue in the event of a U.S. government shutdown, according to an Agriculture Department official. The majority of other government agriculture-related activities will likely be halted.

De Heus building new feedmill to expand Vietnam market

Plant will double company's production in Vietnam
De Heus has begun work on a new production plant in Vietnam's Dong Nai province in order to double the company's production in Vietnam and expand its market presence. The project includes a state-of-the-art feedmill with a capacity of 300,000 metric tons of pig, poultry and cattle feed per year.

Heartland Co-op, Fieldale Farms sign contracting agreement for NutriDense Grain

Growers who use grain will receive $0.25-per-bushel acreage contracts
Heartland Co-op and Fieldale Farms announced  a new contracting agreement for NutriDense Grain, which will be delivered to Heartland and then utilized by Fieldale, an independent poultry producer in northeast Georgia. “Through this NutriDense Grain partnership with Fieldale Farms, our growers will have a premium contracting opportunity,” said Kent Jessen, Heartland director of merchandising.

Norwegian Ewos enters Vietnam feed market

Feed mill to be run in the Vietnamese province of Long Anh
Aquafeed company Ewos, Norway, entered the feed market in Vietnam for farmed pangasius, through a joint venture between its parent conglomerate Cermaq and Vietnamese operator Anova Corporation. Ewos already produces fish feeds in Norway, Chile, Canada and Scotland.

CTB Inc. founder Howard S. Brembeck has died at the age of 100. Brembeck founded Chore-Time in 1952 in Alliance, Ohio, before relocating the business to Milford, Ind., in 1954.
