Will South Africa continueto receive preferential trade benefits under the Africa Growth and OpportunityAct (AGOA) even while the nation imposes anti-dumping duties on imports of U.S.chicken?  

A recent study investigates the effects of a moderate dilution (up to 22.5 percent) of turkey diets with whole wheat using 900 male turkeys that were allocated to five dietary treatments. Results indicated that dietary dilution with wheat promotes gut health and did not reduce weight gain or feed efficiency.

The Environmental Protection Agency seeksauthority over intermittent streams, ponds and isolated wetlands, some of whichhave no recognizable ties to larger bodies of water.   

By 2022, world meat exports are forecast by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to grow by 19 percent or 1.6 percent annually, a slowdown compared to the previous decade when exports grew by 4.3 percent per year from 2003-12. Nonetheless, growth in meat trade over the next decade will be driven by poultry meat and bovine meat exports, which together will comprise 80 percent of the additional trade from 2013-22. 

Higher demand for poultry meat and eggs around the world in the next decade will largely be driven by income growth and rapid population growth in the BRIC countries of Brazil, Russia, India and China, and generally other developing regions. A growing population with changing diets will require more animal proteins overall in the near future, but at a higher cost than in the previous decade with input costs rising and production slowing.

The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association's research program has been in place for 50 years, over which time nearly $25 million has been invested in research to help the industry find answers to its most vexing problems. The research funding process has been for the board of directors to issue a list of research priorities and researchers to then submit proposals to the foundation research advisory committee (FRAC), which is made up of poultry industry professionals.
