When I think of snack foods containing eggs that one can purchase at retail, I tend to think of hard-boiled eggs and protein bars containing egg whites. I have never been a fan of either. When it comes to snacking, crunchy and salty are at the top of my wish list.
Pretty soon, I may just have a crunchy egg snack option. Two snack food companies, startup firm Quevos and 14-year-old LesserEvil, are launching new crunchy snack food products with egg whites as featured ingredients.
Coming soon: Quevos Egg White chips
Quevos, a firm launched with a Kickstarter campaign, expects to have its Egg White Chips in a handful of Chicago stores in July 2019 and is taking online preorders for shipment in July. The flavors listed are Quevos Rancheros, Sour Cream & Onion, Sweet Barbecue and Sea Salt & Black Pepper. The chips are dairy free and gluten free and use avocado and chia seeds as ingredients. A single 120-calorie serving of Egg White chips will provide 10 grams of protein, six grams of fiber and two or three grams of carbs.

LesserEvil Grain-Free Egg White Curls
LesserEvil is launching a new line of snack foods, grain-free egg white curls. The initial flavors will be Egg & Cheese, Himalayan Pink Salt and Huevos Rancheros. These products contain six grams of protein per serving and contain egg whites from cage-free hens. Where I live, LesserEvil snacks can be purchased at Publix and Earth Fare grocery stores.
I wish LesserEvil and Quevos luck with these new products. I am not a fan of the ingredient sourcing approaches favoring organic ingredients, but if these products succeed, look for egg whites in more mainstream snacks soon.
