Triple-yolked egg in media spotlight

For those of you who are regular readers of this column, you will know that I like the unusual, whether it be Romulus and Remus, the two ducklings that hatched from one egg, or the woman that had so many double-yolked eggs, she could hardly contain her excitement.

Well, I have come across another oddity, courtesy of the the York Press.

Blossom the hen, owned by ex-policeman Marc Allison, has moved up a notch from laying double-yolked eggs and has produced a tripe-yolker.

Kept in a back garden in Pickering, UK, Blossom does have the habit of producing larger-than-average eggs with double yolks, but this latest creation is a first for the hen. While perhaps not as rare as hens’ teeth, if you would like to learn more about Blossom, and see the much-talked about egg, visit the York Press website.
