Halloween is fast approaching, so you know there had to be some sort of promotion with Halloween-themed foods.

And while I’m sure there are plenty out there, I’m going to focus on one particular product line.

Just in time for the Halloween season, Tyson Foods is introducing Spooky Nuggets. The limited-edition Halloween nuggets should taste the same as other chicken nuggets produced by Tyson, but these come in three shapes: pumpkins, bats and ghosts.

“Our Fun Nuggets are a fan favorite, and we want to give people more ways to celebrate the season with new Halloween-inspired shapes” Colleen Hall, senior director of marketing for the Tyson brand said in a press release. “There's no better way to gear up for a night of trick-or-treating than a warm, delicious spread of Spooky Nuggets.”

According to the press release, Tyson Spooky Nuggets are now available for a limited time through a giveaway on the brand’s Instagram page.

Those who want a chance at some of these Tyson Spooky Nuggets are being asked comment on the Instagram announcement post with the emoji of the shape they are most excited to try, and tag a friend they’d like to share them with, using hashtags #TysonSpookyNuggets and #Sweepstakes now until October 14.

When it’s all said and done, 250 winners will be selected.

Will a larger rollout come?

So it appears if you want some of these fun nuggets, you will have to enter through the Instagram sweepstakes. Certainly not everybody who wants them will get them, but when you look at it from Tyson’s perspective, even if these nuggets may not have expired yet, would what remains on store shelves be tough to get rid of once November rolls around?

Still, I think an opportunity is being missed here.

Take a look at what Perdue Farms did with its ThanksNuggets turkey nugget product two years ago. Perdue sold the Thanksgiving-themed turkey nuggets on a very limited basis that year, selling only 100 packages of them via a company website. And they sold out in less than three minutes.

I haven’t heard what will be done with these ThanksNuggets this year, but I do know they were made more widely available in 2021.

Kids love their nuggets, and especially those that come in fun shapes. And let’s be honest, a lot of adults do too.

I hope this campaign is successful and we see more of these fun-shaped nuggets during future Halloweens.
