A viral social media post about Chick-fil-A’s virtual concepts caused a consumer frenzy for chicken wings.

It all started with a post on Instagram that said “You can now get bone-in wings from #ChickFilA.”

And, although the post clearly stated that “Chick-fil-A opened a virtual restaurant in #Nashville to give customers what they want to eat, and use their feedback to change or add new menu items. An #Atlanta location is planned to open soon,” it quickly became clear that social media wasn’t paying attention.

Consumers went crazy over the news, claiming that this news clearly meant that the chicken chain planned to add wings to all Nashville and Atlanta locations.

“Chick-fil-A got chicken wings I definitely wanna go try it,” tweeted one.

Another wrote: “Chick fil a has lemon pepper chicken wings !!!! Nahhh I gotta try it lol”

“Chick fil a better bring them chicken wings to LA,” tweeted another.

So what’s the truth?

In 2021, Chick-fil-A announced plans to open its first virtual brand, Little Blue Menu, in Nashville.

Little Blue Menu gives give consumers access to hundreds of chicken menu items across four virtual brands, including classic menu items from Chick-fil-A. Food from the virtual restaurants, Flock and Farm, Garden Day and Outfox Wings, are available for delivery only, alongside classic menu items from Chick-fil-A. Little Blue Menu will feature chicken sandwiches, chicken wings and oven roasted chicken menu offerings.

At the time, Chick-fil-A was clear that there were no plans to sell wings at brick-and-mortar locations.

“Chick-fil-A restaurants are not testing chicken wings, but we love to see the excitement for Bone-In Wings offered at Little Blue Menu, a delivery kitchen concept with a single location in downtown Nashville,” a Chick-fil-A representative told WATTPoultry.com.

“Created by Chick-fil-A, Little Blue Menu offers several virtual restaurants – one of them being Outfox Wings – as well as the classic Chick-fil-A menu. Customers can mix and match items from Chick-fil-A and the virtual restaurants, and have them delivered in one bundled order. If you’re in Nashville, orders can be placed online at littlebluemenu.com and, later this fall, ordering will also be available on the Chick-fil-A App.”

So, there you are, no chicken wings. But, it sounds like customers would be mighty excited for chicken wings at their favorite fast food restaurants!
