Vegetarian groups continue to have an undue impact on political decisions affecting livestock production. Their emphasis has moved towards an allegation that eating meat endangers the environment because of the supposed role of livestock in global warming.

For a long time their main point of attack has been by whispering in the ear of successive governments that the welfare of farm animals, including pigs, is under threat and must be protected by ever-tighter regulation.

Once again it demonstrates how meat industries everywhere need to be prepared to make considered statements to government agencies about the true situation.
