At first, it would seem odd that the eighth largest turkey producer in the United States would be encouraging people to have anything other than turkey as a main entrée for Thanksgiving dinner.

But Perdue Farms, also the country’s fifth largest broiler producer, is aware that maybe not everyone wants to eat turkey. So, it appears it is just covering its bases as it introduces a new and unique Thanksgiving chicken recipe – known as Chiclucken.

That product is the Chiclucken, which features five layers of tender, juicy Perdue chicken and pushes the limits of culinary arts, the company said in a press release. It starts with an herbed chicken nugget stuffing nestled against hickory-smoked chicken strips, resting between chicken “chorizo” butter and chicken cordon bleu dip – all inside a whole chicken.

“Perdue created the Chiclucken to meet the growing demand for unique and playful spins on classic holiday dishes,” said David Zucker, chief marketing and digital officer for Perdue. “It brings all the beloved flavors of Thanksgiving into one beautiful, easy-to-serve chicken dish that’s both delicious and highly shareable. We think it will appeal especially to hosts who are a little more daring and open to redefining traditions.”

Chiclucken will not be sold at stores as a product in and of itself, but the ingredients all are. In terms of chicken, it involves Fresh whole chicken with giblets, fresh ground chicken, hickory smoked chicken strips, shredded roasted white meat chicken, and panko chicken nuggets, all from Perdue.

The full recipe can be found on The Chiclucken.com.

In the photo, it looks good, but my family will be sticking with the more traditional turkey meal this year. Still, it has potential to be enjoyed any time of year.

If you try this Chiclucken recipe, let me know how it tasted.

Happy Thanksgiving!
