Handsome Brook Farms has voluntarily recalled 10,800 retail units of its Organic Pasture Raised 24 egg cartons sold under the Kirkland Signature brand due to a potential Salmonella contamination.
The recall was initiated after the producer mistakenly packaged and distributed shell eggs that were not intended for retail. As of December 3, 2024, there are no illness complaints associated with the Handsome Brook Farms’ eggs.
The units were distributed into 25 Costco stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee beginning on November 22, 2024. The eggs are packaged in plastic egg cartons with the Julian code 327 and a use by date of Jan 5, 2025.
No other egg products are impacted and the recall is being performed in conjunction with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The producer’s employees are being retrained on supply chain controls to prevent the situation from reoccurring. Consumers that purchased the product should stop consumption and return the identified units to their local Costco store for a full refund or dispose of the eggs.
According to Handsome Brook Farms’ website, it produces organic pasture-raised eggs in 10 U.S. states.
