Amino acid study points to potential for even lower-protein diets

Amino acids work to activate different genes, potentially allowing producers to fine-tune low-protein poultry diets for regional needs, researcher says.

Researchers have long known that supplemental amino acids can boost the performance of animals fed low-protein diets, often to significant environmental benefit. But understanding the finer details of why this is the case could allow for even lower-protein feed formulations, according to Kazuhisa Honda, a professor of agricultural science at Kobe University in Japan.
