Teenagers admitted to authorities that they drove a motorcycle and a four-wheeler into a turkey house in Sumter County, South Carolina. The incident left more than 200 turkeys dead.
A press release from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) stated that on August 4, deputies were called to a residence in the eastern part of the county.
The landowner informed deputies that he had asked the teenagers to leave the property, and after doing so, he discovered doors to a turkey house were left open and tracks from the motorcycle and four-wheeler could be seen inside.
According to the SCSO, it is believed that the turkeys that perished had trampled one another while running in fear.
In addition, it was discovered that row crops in a nearby field were also damaged by the same individuals.
The SCSO stated that three juveniles admitted to having driven through the barn and through the field. They were read their Miranda rights and will be petitioned to family court.
