An offer from a second company to acquire Spanish poultry producer Uvesa has emerged.

About a month and a half after Ukrainian company MHP offered to purchase Uvesa, Spain’s Grupo Fuertes has also made an offer, both Spanish companies recently confirmed.

Regarding the offer, Uvesa stated: “The board of directors will analyze the offer of Grupo Fuertes, seeking, as it cannot be otherwise, the best interest of Uvesa and its shareholders and always within the framework of its legal and contractual obligations.

“That the interest shown by both MHP SE and Grupo Fuertes, which the company appreciates, clearly reflects the relevance of Uvesa Group in its sector, as well as its ability to continue to generate opportunities for development and growth in the short and medium term.”

Grupo Fuertes, which formerly co-owned Russian company Tambov Turkey in a joint venture with Cherkizovo, stated in an email to WATT Global Media that its offer exceeds EUR300 million (US$308 million).

Information concerning the terms of MHP’s offer, which was announced in December, was not made available.

Information about another offer unverified

Uvesa, on its website, also addressed rumblings of a third takeover offer from Portuguese company Valouro.

Uvesa said it has no record, either directly or indirectly, on the interest of the Valouro Group for the company, but should such an offer materialize, it would be analyzed just as the offers from MHP and Grupo Fuertes.
