Manufacturing Support Industries developed the Footwear Disinfection Station to address one of the most frequent sources of virus transmission between farmers, employees, tools and equipment. The Footwear Disinfection Station can instantly provide fresh disinfectant and water proportionally. This allows for the removal of heavy organic material from footwear, tools and equipment while also disinfecting. The system is ergonomically designed and does not require electrical power, only a water connection and a separate liquid disinfectant source. The system was developed in collaboration with a major integrator in Maryland as a biosecurity step in combatting avian influenza.
