Biomin pHD prevents the invasion of pathogenic bacteria into the urogenital tract of the sow. This effect is based on two mechanisms: decreasing the urinary pH by lowering the anion-cation balance and inhibiting the adhesion of pathogens to the lining of the urinary tract. Sow fertility problems are often caused by urinary tract infections, says Biomin. Up to 45 percent of sows are affected.
