Nedap has broadened the application of its Velos control platform beyond the initial use for electronic sow feeding (ESF), to give further automation within the pig unit. This will extend to various regular tasks such as feeding or weighing so that the production site’s staff can focus on animal management. Sensors are being provided to pick up the pigs’ behavioural signals as an aid to improved management decisions. With Velos Easy Access, entry to farm buildings is automated by equipping staff and visitors with RFID badges so that all accesses are recorded. The control of doors and gates can be extended using cameras, lights and alarms.
