FloraStart probiotic for neonatal chicks from Pacific Vet Group USA was designed for use in broiler hatchery operations. Using a blend of two proprietary lactic acid bacteria isolates, the probiotic is applied in the hatchery via coarse spray. The product was developed to minimize chick wetting and optimize preening behavior so virtually all chicks are effectively colonized with beneficial bacteria within minutes. The company says FloraStart will increase seven-day live weights and reduce early chick mortality. A FloraStart C option is available, designed to mitigate the performance setback commonly associated with coccidiosis vaccination of neonatal broiler chicks.
