The Asserva neo-cam image processing system monitors and notifies the farmer when farrowing beings and counts the number of piglets. The cameras can move to monitor a whole row of pens, avoiding the need for a camera for each sow. A programmable logic controller controls the movements of the camera and the integrated surveillance program can start heating piglet nests and behind the sows to save energy. The neo-cam can be remotely operated from a computer, tablet or smartphone.
