The Poultry Science Association (PSA) has selected Isabella von Seggern of Iowa State University as the 2023 recipient of Zinpro Corporation’s Undergraduate Poultry Science Scholarship award.
This scholarship, sponsored by Zinpro Corporation, serves to promote diversity in the poultry science industry by awarding funds to a student belonging to gender, racial or ethnic groups that have been historically under-represented in the United States. The selected recipient is chosen based on scholastic achievement and service and an interest in continuing to learn and promote the role of the poultry industry in feeding the world’s growing population. The award is given to either a rising junior or senior undergraduate student.
“At Zinpro, we are committed to advancing our diversity, equity and inclusion practices, including the ways we support and encourage agricultural science students from underrepresented communities,” said LaToya Burrell, Zinpro general counsel and executive director of Anderson Foundation. “We are proud to recognize Isabella for her academic and leadership achievements.”
Isabella von Seggern has grown up with poultry, having been involved in 4-H and showing poultry for 10 years. She is accomplished in poultry shows, receiving the 2017 Indiana State Showman. Her interest in poultry has carried on to her collegiate studies where she is expected to graduate from Iowa State University in spring 2024 with a bachelor’s in animal science, a minor in biology and honors recognition. Isabella has worked at the Poultry Physiology Lab since starting her undergraduate career, and she is the vice president of the Poultry Interest Group, which connects students with the poultry industry and provides poultry education to youth.
The Poultry Science Association echoes Zinpro Corporation’s congratulations for Isabella in being awarded this year’s scholarship. The association’s scholarship cycle opens annually in October, and students are encouraged to subscribe to PSA emails to receive the latest updates regarding available opportunities.
