Aviagen recently hosted the company's inaugural European Veterinary Forum, which included veterinarians who support the health and welfare of Aviagen Grandparent stock across Europe as well as members of the internal Aviagen veterinary team.

The forum focused on ways to consistently improve the health and welfare of GP stock and had an interactive format — all participants were encouraged to play an active part in the meeting by presenting case studies on a number of topics and participating in group discussions. In these group sessions, veterinarians compared and contrasted the individual vaccination programs used by each operation and suggested changes that would provide offspring with improved maternal antibody levels. Other topics discussed included antibiotic resistance, changes to rules governing antibiotic prescription across Europe, leg health, an update of the compartmentalization project and monitoring of chick bacterial levels.
