Ruth Kimmelshue has been named president of Cargill Meat Solutions. Kimmelshue will replace Jody Horner, who has resigned to become the president of Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska.
In addition to serving in her new role as president of Cargill Meat Solutions, Kimmelshue will continue in her role as president and unit leader of Cargill Turkey and Cooked Meats (CTCM), a position she has held since June 2013.
As president of CTCM, Kimmelshue will oversee CTCM, Cargill Pork, Cargill Case Ready, Cargill Value Added Meats – Foodservice, Cargill Food Distribution and Cargill Beef.
Before she took her position with CTCM, Kimmelshue was president of Cargill Salt, which produces, packages and ships salt to the food, water conditioning, industrial, packaged deicing and agricultural markets. Prior to Cargill Salt, Kimmelshue was vice president, Cargill AgHorizons -- Cargill’s oldest business -- executing on the vision of “Helping Farmers Prosper” by delivering grain marketing, grain handling and crop inputs solutions to America’s farmers. She also managed Supply Chain Solutions, an internal consulting organization that brings supply chain capabilities and support to Cargill’s global businesses.
Kimmelshue’s career began in 1986 with Continental Grain, where she spent 13 years before the company was acquired by Cargill. Most of her career was spent in the grain and oilseed businesses trading, managing elevators, managing domestic and international product lines (corn, wheat and soy meal), analyzing markets and exploring opportunities in value-added marketing at various locations in the U.S. and in Europe.
Horner, who joined Cargill’s Corporate Strategy and Business Development Group in 1994 and became president of Cargill Meat Solutions in 2008, will end her tenure at Cargill at the end of 2014. She will assume the presidency of Midland University in February 2015.
