5 animal feed programs not to miss at 2018 IPPE

1. FSPCA Preventive Controls Qualified Individual Training for Animal Food
Wednesday, January 31, 1 – 7 p.m.
Thursday, February 1, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Friday, February 2, 7 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Registration fee: $550 early bird/$650 onsite, limited to 80 registrants

The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) is hosting a Food Safety Preventive Control Alliance Preventive Controls for Animal Food training. Attendees will receive a FSPCA PCQI certificate after completion of the course. The training was developed by the FSPCA and is the “standardized curriculum” the Food and Drug Administration recognizes as adequate for PCQI training. Successfully completing this course is one way to meet the requirements for a PCQI.

2. Feed Production Education Program

AFIA's production compliance committee is hosting the annual Feed Production Education program again in 2017. As regulatory requirements for the feed industry continue to expand, this training session will update participants on recent changes from several federal agencies including DOL, DOT, EPA, FDA and OSHA. In addition, two important concerns for plant managers today are pellet quality and product segregation in bins, and experts in each area will provide insight on these topics. Finally, learn more about AFIA’s new and improved Feed Facility of the Year program and the announcement of the 2017 award winner.

3. Exporting 101: Global Sales for Enhancing Competitiveness and Innovation

Learn how the U.S. government can assist U.S. companies expand sales into overseas markets, including emerging trends in international markets. Presented by the U.S. Department of Commerce/U.S. Commercial Service, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Export Import Bank of the United States and private industry, the seminar will highlight resources available for exporters to position manufactured products and value propositions in compelling international markets. U.S. Government resources are available to assist in assessing export readiness through to market strategies to position and increase an international sales footprint. Learn how to explore high-value potential markets, import requirements, marketing resources, projecting growth potential and export financing.

4. Permit Required Confined Space — Train the Trainer

Thursday, February 1, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Registration fee: $599, limited to 15 registrants

This certification-based workshop will provide safety managers, supervisors and other professionals with the information and tools they need to develop, implement and maintain an effective permit-required confined space entry program and the ability to train entrants, attendants and entry supervisors. Employers will be able to create teams of people who are equipped to handle any permit-required confined space entry effectively. Attendees will have ample opportunities to analyze and discuss various confined space scenarios designed to build their skills as an important safety resource at their work location. Attendees will receive OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 Permit Required Confined Space, Train the Trainer  16 Hr., from Emergency Response Specialists, Inc.

5. Pet Food Conference
Tuesday, January 30, 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Registration fee: $75 early bird/$95 onsite

AFIA's Pet Food Conference covers a variety of topics from regulatory to technical aspects of production to product claims, marketing and nutrition. This annual educational session attracts more than 250 attendees from pet food manufacturing to ingredient suppliers covering all ingredient categories, offering an excellent opportunity to network with this diverse audience. This year’s program includes breakfast and lunch.
