A former employee of George’s Inc. is being sued by the Arkansas-based poultry company, which alleges he defrauded the company.
Also named as defendants in the lawsuit are two contractors.
In the suit, George’s allege that Thomas Miller, a former director of corporate engineering for George’s, and two contracting companies conspired to defraud George’s out of millions of dollars' worth of work for construction that personally benefitted Miller reported 5News.
According to the suit, Miller allegedly submitted false invoices to defraud the company while he was also overseeing construction and contractor projects for George’s.
"Specifically, Miller orchestrated this scheme to benefit from free or discounted work" on his personal property by company contractors and he allegedly encouraged the contractors to do the same, according to the lawsuit.
George’s seeks repayment for the alleged fraud, money to cover attorney fees. The company also wants the court to impose a constructive trust, which would give the company ownership of land that was improved by construction work paid for by George's, which would include Miller's personal property.
George’s is the eighth largest poultry company in the United States. It processed 31.5 million pounds of ready-to-cook chicken in 2013, according to information from the WATTPoultry.com Top Poultry Companies Database.
