The American Feed Industry Association’s (AFIA) Production Compliance Committee highlighted key insights during its annual Feed Education Program at the 2024 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE). The program addressed upcoming priorities from U.S. federal regulators in 2024, featuring discussions on OSHA's forthcoming heat illness standard and insights from the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Labor and the Food and Drug Administration. Additionally, MFA Incorporated’s Aurora Mill plant was recognized as the 2023 Commercial Dry Feed Facility of the Year in partnership with Feedstuffs.
Gary Huddleston, AFIA’s director of feed manufacturing and regulatory affairs, emphasized the importance of implementing comprehensive safety plans to address the new focus on heat injuries. Christian Richter, principal at The Policy Group, and Leah Wilkinson, AFIA’s vice president of public policy and education, provided insights on anticipated developments for the EPA and FDA, respectively.
