The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) recently hosted an educational program during the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE), focusing on the feed industry's role in sustainability.
Titled "Feed Your ESG: How Feed Will Help Hit Sustainability Targets," the half-day event attracted nearly 120 attendees. Speakers, including Mike Gauss, president at Kent Nutrition Group, and Anne-Marie Neeteson, global senior advisor at Aviagen Group, shared actionable strategies for integrating sustainability into current business practices.
Paul Davis, AFIA’s director of quality, animal food safety, and education, emphasized the industry's commitment to sustainability, going beyond environmental concerns to enrich the lives of employees and communities.
The program highlighted the relationship between sustainability and animal feed production, encouraging companies to align their ESG pillars with core values. Insights from Lara Moody, executive director at the Institute for Feed Education and Research, and Matt Sutton-Vermeulen, partner at The Context Network, showcased how feed industry innovations contribute to broader solutions in the food supply chain.
A panel discussion followed the presentations, allowing attendees to delve deeper into the various dimensions of sustainability in the animal feed industry.
