USPOULTRY accepting nominations for Dr. Charles Beard Research Excellence Award

Nominations are open until July.

USPOULTRY and the USPOULTRY Foundation are now accepting nominations for the Dr. Charles Beard Research Excellence award until July 1. This prestigious award, established in 2013, aims to honor exceptional completed research projects funded by USPOULTRY or its foundation that have significantly benefited the poultry industry.

Nominations are open to universities, research institutions, members of the research community, USPOULTRY members, staff and sponsored committees. Self-nominations are welcome. Projects completed within the past five years are eligible, although older projects with recently recognized impacts may also be considered. Further details about the award can be found here.

To nominate, please send a letter to Dr. Denise Heard, vice president of research, at [email protected]. Include the nominee's name, a brief overview of their research accomplishments and the research's impact.

The recipient of the Dr. Charles Beard Research Excellence award, the primary researcher(s) behind the recognized project, will receive round-trip transportation and three nights’ lodging at the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta, Georgia, along with a cash prize of $1,500. The award ceremony will take place at IPPE during the USPOULTRY chair’s reception, with recognition at the International Poultry Scientific Forum by Dr. Heard.

USPOULTRY's research program covers all aspects of broiler, turkey and commercial egg operations, with over $36 million invested to date. Enhancing the quality and safety of poultry products through extensive research is a key strategic objective for USPOULTRY.
