The Joint Poultry Industry Safety & Health Council hands out awards

244 chicken and turkey facilities were recognized for their exceptional safety performance.

The Joint Poultry Industry Safety & Health Council has recognized 244 chicken and turkey facilities for their exceptional safety performance. The awards were presented at the National Safety Conference for the Poultry Industry in Destin, Florida. These facilities were honored for their innovative and effective safety and health programs, with award consideration based on injury statistics from 2021 to 2024 and evaluations by safety experts.

The awards are categorized into three levels:

  • Award of Distinction: Presented to 60 facilities with injury and illness rates at least 75% lower than Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) results
  • Award of Honor: Given to 91 facilities with incident rates between 75% and 50% lower than BLS results
  • Award of Merit: Awarded to 93 facilities with injury and illness rates between 50% and equal to BLS results

Allan Foy, corporate director of safety at Farbest Foods and chair of the Joint Poultry Industry Safety & Health Council, praised the industry's progress in worker safety, congratulating the awarded facilities and their employees.

The Joint Industry Safety & Health Council includes members from the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, National Chicken Council, and National Turkey Federation, representing companies responsible for 95% of the nation's poultry production and employing over 350,000 workers.
