The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) and the USPOULTRY Foundation have announced the opening of submissions for the 2025 Spring Research Competition. Colleges, universities and research institutions are invited to submit research pre-proposals by November 1. This competition is held twice annually—in the spring and fall—to fund research projects that advance the poultry and egg industries.
Pre-proposals should be a concise, one-page synopsis outlining the proposed research project. The Foundation Research Advisory Committee, consisting of industry professionals, will review these pre-proposals. Projects that align with the current research priorities will be invited to submit full proposals for further consideration.
USPOULTRY updates its research priorities every two years, and the list is available on its website. The current research priorities encompass a wide range of categories including:
- Animal welfare
- Breeder management (turkeys and broilers)
- Meat bird management
- Commercial egg production
- Diseases
- Environmental management
- Food safety
- Hatchery management
- Nutrition
- Processing
- Employee safety and health

USPOULTRY also welcomes preproposals that address emerging issues outside of the current priority list, provided there is a demonstrated need for the research. All submitted pre-proposals will be evaluated based on relevance and potential impact. Final funding decisions will be announced in April 2025.
