Axitan names new VP

Gonzalo Prat will oversee the company's endolysin-based products.

Axitan, a biotech firm specializing in endolysin enzyme products to replace antibiotics in animal feed, has announced the appointment of Gonzalo Prat as vice president of sales & marketing. Based in Chesterfield, MO, USA, Prat will lead the global development of Axitan’s expanding portfolio of endolysin-based products.

Alfred Zimmerman, CEO of Axitan, expressed enthusiasm for the new appointment: “Gonzalo brings an exceptional track record in driving revenue growth for innovative feed additive products across poultry, swine, and ruminants in the Americas. His experience will help cement our current momentum as we launch our first product for the poultry market, FORC3."

Prat joins Axitan after 18 years with Novus International, where he served as senior managing director for the Americas. He successfully led Novus’ go-to-market strategy for its specialty business unit, covering enzymes, eubiotics, minerals and methionine.

Commenting on his new role, Prat said: “Axitan is pioneering the use of endolysin technology to safely reduce and remove antibiotics from animal feed without compromising productivity. I’m honored to join at a time when livestock producers are increasingly seeking sustainable solutions.”

Axitan’s biotech team has been a leader in integrating endolysins into animal feed, providing innovative solutions for pathogen mitigation. Their first commercial product, FORC3, targets Clostridium perfringens in poultry, and the company is developing a robust pipeline of products to address other pathogens affecting the livestock industry.
