Wayne-Sanderson Farms’ Dobson Complex has been recognized for its outstanding safety program by the North Carolina Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Division. The company received both Silver and Gold awards at the department’s annual awards banquet, underscoring its commitment to workplace safety.
- Awards Overview:
- Silver Award: Newton Feed Mill Facility
- Gold Awards:
- Dobson Fresh Processing Facility (2nd consecutive year)
- Elkin Hatchery Facility (3rd consecutive year)
The NCDOL OSHA Gold Awards are awarded based on industry-standard DART rates, which track injuries resulting in days away from work or job transfers, while the Silver Awards focus on cases requiring days off work. These accolades highlight Wayne-Sanderson Farms' ongoing efforts to enhance workplace safety through its Zero Accident Culture framework, emphasizing robust training, employee involvement, and awareness.
Travis Tilley, safety manager for the Dobson Complex, remarked, “The culture we’ve developed is the key to our successful safety performance. We constantly train on safety being everyone’s personal responsibility, and managers and supervisors work hands-on with team members to find safer ways to work and prioritize safety in every task.”
This recognition comes after a strong showing at the recent Joint Poultry Industry Safety Recognition Awards banquet, where Wayne-Sanderson Farms received 23 awards, including Awards of Honor for the Dobson Processing and Awards of Distinction for the Hatchery facilities.
