Aviagen was a proud sponsor of the 7th International Broiler Nutritionists’ Conference, titled Poultry Beyond 2030, which took place from Sept. 16-20 in Queenstown, New Zealand. The event gathered industry leaders and academic experts from over 20 countries to discuss innovations in broiler nutrition, emphasizing the development of a sustainable future for the poultry industry.
The conference opened with a traditional New Zealand Maori Pōwhiri ceremony and an address by Nicola Grigg, New Zealand’s Right Honourable Associate Minister of Agriculture. Aviagen's key contributors included Dr. Marcelo Silva, who presented on recent advancements in broiler nutrition, and Dr. Peter Chrystal, who explored the role of nutrition in sustainable broiler production, emphasizing lifecycle assessment.
Over the four-day event, participants engaged in networking opportunities, shared research and collaborated on strategies for boosting innovation and competitiveness in the poultry industry. Abbey Mathew, Aviagen New Zealand operations manager, chaired a session on sustainability and highlighted the importance of optimal nutrition for maintaining affordable and sustainable poultry production. Coltin Caraway, director of nutrition at Mountaire Farms, praised the event for its insightful discussions and opportunities for global collaboration.
Launched in the 1990s, the conference took a break during the COVID-19 lockdowns but has returned, offering stronger participation and engagement than ever.
