New study highlights impact of U.S. poultry industry

Study funded by USPOULTRY, National Chicken Council, National Turkey Federation and United Egg Producers.

A recent economic impact study from the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY), National Chicken Council, National Turkey Federation and United Egg Producers underscores the vital role of the U.S. poultry industry, which generates 1.4 million jobs and $450 billion in economic activity.

The updated report, conducted by John Dunham & Associates, details the economic contributions across three sectors: broilers, turkey and eggs. The broiler industry alone supports nearly 1.4 million jobs, contributes $90.9 billion in wages and generates $36.7 billion in government revenue. The data is available on an interactive website, offering insights into the economic impact at national, state, and local levels.

“This valuable tool shows the positive economic impact the poultry and egg industry have on our nation and communities,” said USPOULTRY President Nath Morris. NCC Interim President Gary Kushner emphasized that chicken’s impact extends coast to coast, supporting sectors from farming to retail.

The data will be instrumental as the industry engages with the new congress in Washington.
