The USPOULTRY Foundation has allocated a total of $324,215 in student recruiting grants to six universities with dedicated poultry science departments and 22 institutions with industry-related programs. These funds, generated from gifts and proceeds from the International Poultry Expo, aim to attract and retain students in poultry-related fields, supporting the future workforce of the poultry sector.
The six universities with poultry science departments awarded grants include:
- Texas A&M University–$50,428
- North Carolina State University–$32,868
- Auburn University–$30,143
- University of Arkansas–$29,699
- University of Georgia–$28,875
- Mississippi State University–$27,987
Additionally, 22 other institutions received grants under the Industry Education Recruitment Funding Program, including Pennsylvania State University ($10,000), University of North Georgia ($10,000) and University of Wisconsin ($1,000).
“These grants play a critical role in guiding institutions to inspire students towards poultry industry careers,” said USPOULTRY Foundation Chairman Jarod Morrison of Farbest Foods. The USPOULTRY Foundation, established in 1994, expanded in 2004 to fund recruitment efforts across a broader range of colleges with industry-related programs, supporting a strong pipeline of talent for the sector.
