Tyson Foods' Masters named PFSE chair

Ashley Eisenbeiser of FMI is named the vice chair of the Partnership for Food Safety Education.

The Partnership for Food Safety Education (PFSE) announced the election of Dr. Barb Masters as board chair and Ashley Eisenbeiser as vice chair. Dr. Masters, vice president of regulatory policy, food, and agriculture at Tyson Foods, succeeds Harold Chase of NSF. With a doctor of veterinary medicine from Mississippi State University, Masters has been a PFSE board member since 2020 and is a dedicated advocate for food safety from farm to table.

She has highlighted the importance of accessible, science-based resources, saying, “With more people eating at home, it’s crucial to support information disseminators so they can be effective in influencing food handling behaviors.”

Eisenbeiser, senior director of food and product safety programs at FMI, previously served as a family and consumer sciences extension agent with Virginia Cooperative Extension and has been on the PFSE board since 2020. Eisenbeiser emphasized the organization’s dedication to reducing foodborne illness, saying, “We will continue leading the way in consumer food safety education to serve our communities effectively.”

PFSE recently led a successful Collective Day of Action for National Food Safety Education Month, reaching approximately 4 million people through social media posts and communications. This outreach supports the over 13,000 professionals who rely on PFSE’s science-based resources, including webinars and events on various food safety topics.

Looking ahead, PFSE will host the Consumer Food Safety Education Conference (CFSEC) on March 13-14, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the Sysco Headquarters. The two-day conference will feature discussions, networking opportunities, and tools for enhancing food safety practices. For further details, visit cfsec.org or contact PFSE at [email protected].
