New poultry research facility opens in Jamaica

CB Group and Devenish Nutrition will explore combinations of feed, housing and breeds to boost productivity and efficiency in the country's poultry sector.

CB Group, in partnership with Devenish Nutrition, has launched a cutting-edge poultry research facility at "The Nest," CB Group's eco-industrial park in Jamaica. This new facility, featuring 48 pens, is designed to test up to six different dietary treatments per trial, making it a valuable resource for advancing poultry research within the region. Located alongside the CB Chicken Air Chill Processing Plant, this facility will explore optimal combinations of feed, housing and breeds to boost productivity and efficiency in Jamaica's poultry sector.

During the opening ceremony, CB Group CEO Matthew Lyn emphasized the initiative's role in enhancing local competitiveness within the global poultry industry. He noted the facility's potential to not only improve outcomes for Jamaican poultry but also to support farmers in similar environments across the Caribbean.

Devenish CEO Tony McEntee expressed his enthusiasm for the strengthened partnership, stating, “The Performance House model allows us to develop and introduce new feed and management solutions tailored for tropical climates, which will benefit not only Caribbean Broilers but also our other regional clients.”

Jamaica's minister of agriculture, fisheries and mining, Hon. Floyd Green, praised the new research facility, highlighting the importance of a research-driven approach for sustainable growth in agriculture.

This collaborative effort marks a significant step toward creating sustainable and profitable solutions for poultry farmers across the Caribbean and similar regions.
