In response to Hurricane Helene, HATCH, Rose Acre Farms, the American Egg Board, and the North Carolina Egg Association are working together to supply thousands of fresh eggs to families affected by the storm in Western North Carolina. These donations will be distributed through MANNA Food Bank in Asheville and Midwest Food Bank, which are servicing distribution sites across the Southeast.
“Fresh food is essential to community well-being, especially during times of crisis,” said Danny Leckie, CEO of HATCH. “Thanks to our partnerships, we can provide nourishing food to families in need during this challenging time.”
A full truckload of eggs—totaling 25,000 dozen—is en route to North Carolina. Due to damage at MANNA Food Bank, Rose Acre Farms has provided a trailer to ensure the eggs are stored securely onsite in Asheville. Additionally, Braswell Family Farms and Simpson’s Eggs, both North Carolina-based, have made significant contributions to support local communities, delivering thousands of eggs to distribution points across the region.
“This generous donation from egg farmers highlights their commitment to families impacted by disasters,” said Lisa Prince, executive director of the North Carolina Egg Association. “It’s heartening to see our farming community come together to alleviate hunger and ensure access to nutritious food.”
Emily Metz, CEO of the American Egg Board, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the strength that comes from united efforts: “True resilience shines when communities support each other. We hope our contributions offer comfort as families rebuild.”
