PURE Bioscience, the creator of the patented silver dihydrogen citrate (SDC) antimicrobial, is proud to announce a multi-year strategic distribution agreement with AFCO, a Zep Company. This partnership strengthens PURE’s distribution capabilities, combining its groundbreaking antimicrobial technology with AFCO’s robust presence and expertise in the food and beverage industry.
The collaboration enables PURE to expand the reach of its SDC products, ensuring effective and innovative cleaning and sanitation solutions for food safety.
Tim Steffensmeier, vice president of sales at PURE, stated: "This agreement broadens our distribution capabilities and aligns with our mission to provide innovative, effective solutions throughout the food and beverage industry. Partnering with AFCO allows us to expand our product applications and unique solutions throughout North America."
Scott Jimenez, senior vice president–West Division at AFCO, added: "This agreement not only expands our reach but also reinforces our commitment to providing high-quality cleaning and sanitation solutions. Together, we are developing innovative methods to address food safety challenges, helping our clients maintain the highest standards."
SDC works through a dual-action mechanism:
- Silver ions deactivate membrane proteins, causing microbial death
- Microbes absorb SDC as a nutrient, allowing silver ions to denature their DNA and halt replication
Unlike traditional silver-based disinfectants, SDC offers a stabilized solution with a shelf life of several years, ensuring sustained and effective antimicrobial action.
Jeff Kitchell, vice president of operations at PURE, emphasized the impact of the partnership: "Together with AFCO, we are poised to deliver unparalleled service and quality that the industry and public expect."
