The makers of the JENNIE-O turkey brand, known for its trusted turkey products worldwide, have joined forces with NBC's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to donate 15,000 whole frozen turkeys to Food Bank For New York City. This donation is part of a larger initiative by JENNIE-O, which includes donating more than 30,000 turkeys during the holiday season.
In a memorable segment on The Tonight Show, nine semi-trucks transported turkeys from Minnesota to New York, where they were delivered to Food Bank For New York City. The organization, which supports food security for New Yorkers, also received 1,000 HORMEL CURE 81 Hams from Hormel Foods to support holiday meals.
Jeff Baker, group vice president of retail marketing at Hormel Foods, "The holidays are about giving and gratitude. By partnering with NBC and The Tonight Show, we hope to make this Thanksgiving a meaningful time for thousands of families."
Leslie Gordon, president and CEO of Food Bank For New York City, added: "This generous gift comes at a time when 1.3 million New Yorkers, including 1 in 4 children, are facing food insecurity. These donations will bring hope and dignity to families this holiday season."
JENNIE-O has been actively supporting communities across the country:
- Minnesota Donations:
- 2,000 turkeys distributed in partnership with the Minnesota Wild on Nov. 15
- 3,500 turkeys given away at the Hometown Turkey Takeover in Austin, Minnesota, home to Hormel Foods
Additional turkeys will be donated to local food banks and other charitable initiatives.
For the fifth consecutive year, JENNIE-O will participate in the iconic Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This year’s turkey float will feature a performance by GRAMMY-winning artist T-Pain, who will deliver a medley of his #1 hits.
