Organization is donating 369,200 servings of protein for families in need.

Mississippi's poultry and egg companies have delivered a significant contribution to tackle hunger during the holiday season, donating 59,500 pounds of chicken and 129,000 eggs to charities selected by Governor Tate Reeves. This totals 369,200 servings of protein for families in need.

Supporting Key Charities

Governor Reeves directed the donation to the Mississippi Food Network and the Salvation Army, recognizing its vital role in addressing food insecurity

A Unified Industry Effort

Mississippi Poultry Association (MPA) members, including Amick Farms, Cal Maine Foods, Koch Foods, Mar-Jac Poultry MS, Peco Foods, Tyson Foods, and Wayne-Sanderson Farms, collaborated to make this impactful annual donation.

  • Mack Walker, MPA chairman of the board, Tyson Foods: “This has been a difficult year for many. The 32,000 employees of Mississippi’s poultry industry want to help their fellow Mississippians this Christmas season. We appreciate Governor Reeves coordinating this effort.”

Economic and Community Impact

Mississippi's poultry industry is the largest agricultural sector in the state, with:

  • 32,000 employees directly involved in poultry production
  • 1,700 farm families raising chickens and eggs
  • An additional 66,400 jobs generated through related industries
  • A $27.8 billion economic impact statewide

Since the initiative began, the MPA has contributed 862,352 pounds of chicken and 1,882,600 eggs, equating to 5,332,008 servings of protein to fight hunger across the state.
