Hormel Foods, a Fortune 500 global branded food company, announces the upcoming retirement of Brian Johnson, vice president and corporate secretary, following an esteemed 30-year career with the company.
“Throughout his three decades at Hormel Foods, Brian has been a trusted advisor to me, our executives, and our Board of Directors,” said Jim Snee, chairman of the board, president, and chief executive officer. “His expertise, integrity, and dedication have earned him tremendous respect. Brian and his wife Ann have also been instrumental in enriching the Austin, Minnesota community through their involvement and support. We congratulate Brian on a remarkable career and wish him and Ann all the best in their next chapter.”
A Distinguished Career
In his role as vice president and corporate secretary, Johnson oversaw corporate governance, advising the company’s board of directors, ensuring securities law compliance, and managing financing matters. He was also an active member of Hormel Foods’ disclosure, compliance and global impact committees.
Johnson joined Hormel Foods in 1995 as a corporate attorney and rose through the ranks to serve in senior leadership roles, becoming corporate secretary in 2007 and vice president and corporate secretary in 2010.
Education and Professional Achievements
Johnson holds a bachelor of science degree, cum laude, from Minnesota State University, Mankato, with majors in accounting, finance, and real estate/insurance, along with minors in economics and political science. He earned his CPA designation in 1984 and graduated magna cum laude with a J.D. degree from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1991, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif. Johnson is an active member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Association of Corporate Counsel, and Society for Corporate Governance.
