More must be done to prevent AI reaching live bird markets

Live bird markets are hotspots for avian influenza transmission. Preventing the virus reaching them would be far more effective in halting transmission than the market-focused measures currently applied.

Measures to stop avian influenza (AI) viruses reaching live bird markets would be more effective in stopping the virus spreading than those that are currently applied to stop transmission within markets, the results of new computer modelling have shown.
